Hi I'm Felix

Senior Manager, Insights and Business Intelligence

Analytics and Insights Team

The work environment

It's important to have the right tools for the job and in my case those tools are coffee, snacks, big monitors and people to share and swap ideas with. Fortunately, ClarusONE has all these things in abundance. Lunch is often my highlight of the day, catching up with colleagues in the kitchen is often where great ideas are incepted and there's also great lunch options around the office which always helps ensure a productive afternoon.

The analytics work itself

Working in analytics and insight, we're primarily concerned with extracting meaningful insight from data and communicating it to the business. This means spending significant time manipulating and exploring the data with our various analytical tools. Usually starting by writing SQL code to find out important statistics like averages, minimums, maximums and biggest changes. Another way we often look for interesting data points and trends is by creating charts and visualisations and trying to spot unusual patterns in the pictures. This analytical exploration typically makes up around half of our day-to-day work, with the other half centred on sharing what we've found with the rest of the business.

Presenting the work

Once we've found the key insights in the data, the time has come to share it with the wider business so that we can work together to make the data driven decisions that support C1 in achieving its goals. This usually means distilling the key insights from a piece of work and presenting these findings in a clear and succinct way to the business team. The ability to translate complex analysis into easily digestible actionable insight for the business is a key skill for any analytics team member. Fortunately, we get lots of practice as meetings and discussions with our business partners is how we spend the other half of our time when we're not working on the analysis itself.

What do I enjoy most about working at ClarusONE and why?

The people.

Given that there is so much collaboration required, it's a good thing that I think everyone at ClarusONE is easy to get on with and are helpful and supportive of all my many many questions!
